hairysniffer painting

This is the first in a series of paintings inspired by photos posted by xtube members (hairysniffer in this case). I started with sumi ink on heavy watercolor paper then added watercolor pencils and painted them out in several layers. Next came a little white acrylic for highlights followed by more watercolor until it was balanced to my eye. Lastly I added the background and a touch more black sumi ink to correct discrepancies that weren't apparent in the initial stages. I photographed each step to preserve it before proceeding to the next.

Hi Sexy...here's a drawing I made yesterday with watercolor pencils over handmade paper in a book I was given years ago and hadn't worked in yet. As I often do, I started with creating his bone structure from scratch and kept evolving him until he felt right to me. I'll update pix of him as he develops. Happy Thanksgiving!

Rousseau After Hours

Here's another new oil painting I've created this fall..I'd created a landscape many years ago and went back into it unpremeditated one day..the figure that emerged looked like me briefly and then turned into what I imagine the painter Rousseau might have looked like relaxing after a hard day painting jungle fantasias!

All else is well here..painting up a storm, getting ready for the first of 3 local art festivals in Hollywood FL (wishing I was at the Bear Bust instead..next year!)and preparing to be able to offer cards and prints of these and more of my paintings (without the watermark of course ;)
